Every year, a number of new and trendy words and phrases manage to make their way into our vocabularies -- and, by extension, into our dictionaries. 2013, for one, was the year of "twerking" and "live blogging." This year, "lolcat" and "duck face" entered our lexicon.
But the additiona of these words to our dictionaries aren't solely focused on the Miley Cyruses or selfie-loving teens of our day. Foodies, too, have created their own vocabulary, frequently using words that once were too abstract to make their ways into everyday North American conversation but have now gone mainstream. Consider this: words like "sushi" and "burrito," Fox News notes, were never in our lexicon.
