The Golden Globes are like The Academy Awards' more laid-back, fun-loving sibling.
Give celebrities ample alcohol and a more relaxed environment, and the funny just comes naturally. Don't believe me? Check out some of these greatest moments from recent Golden Globes ceremonies (in no particular order):
The 72nd Golden Globes will be held on Sunday, January 11, with the red carpet arrivals starting at 6 p.m. ET.
Their Love Will Go On
In 2009, Kate Winslet won two Globes in one night, and longtime co-star/pal Leonardo DiCaprio was there to blow her a kiss. One of the cuter moments we've seen at an awards show.
Telling It Like It Is
One of the reasons we love Cate Blanchett is she says what's on her mind. Just give her all the awards.
Weird For The Sake Of Weird
By now, we're used to Jennifer Lawrence's antics, but here's one of her first zany awards-show moments, sneaking up on an unsuspecting Taylor Swift.
Bringing The Vulgarity
Awards shows are usually unbearable because of their G-rated nature. Thankfully, people like Elisabeth Moss spice up the proceedings by doing things like flipping the bird on a live red carpet. (Too bad the deft cameraperson did their job and got out of there as fast as possible.)
Emma Thompson became everyone's favourite celebrity when she tossed her Louboutins aside and gave her martini to the Golden Globe girl to hold while she read the damn card.
Impressions For The Win
In one of her best imitations of the night, co-host Tina Fey took on Johnny Depp. Nailed it.
Sorry Diddy, even Bono doesn't wanna go there.
Living The Dream
Amy Poehler lived many peoples' fantasies by getting up-close and personal with (a then-single) George Clooney.
Saying Goodbye In The Best Possible Way
When "Breaking Bad" walked away with the majority of the TV drama Globes in 2014 (including Best Drama), series star Aaron Paul reminded us why we will never forget Jesse Pinkman, or any other "BB" cast member, ever.
Renee Zellweger took a trip to the bathroom while her award was being presented because she didn't think she was going to win. So much for these things being rigged!
Am I Hallucinating?
Sure, this can be said for us, the audience, as well as Glenn Close herself. Sometimes at the Globes celebs go all out, like when Close did ... um ... this.
The fact that this happened -- ever -- is so cringe-inducing it hurts. Yes, that's designer and red-carpet correspondent Isaac Mizrahi feeling the "boning" of Scarlett Johansson's dress. The fact that a) he's a designer and b) he's gay don't make this at all OK. In any universe.
We've All Felt It
Even though Steve Carell is joking (obviously), it's nice to see celebs not taking themselves too seriously with their fellow nominees. Hope the Globes make us laugh as much this time around!
