Codey Reginald Hennigar charged with murders following fire

A man has been charged after at least three bodies were found in a burnt-out home after a suspicious fire in a small farming community outside Halifax.

Codey Reginald Hennigar, 30, of Wyses Corner has been charged on two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of 81-year-old Clifford William Ward and 54-year-old Mildred Anne Ward, both from Wyses Corner.

The cause of death of another person discovered inside the home remains under investigation. The age and gender of the third person has not been released.

Hennigar is to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Friday morning.

The charges were laid after a 30-year-old man was arrested early Thursday morning in the ramming of two police cars in the Milford area, about 55 kilometres northeast of Halifax.

The house on the Old Guysborough Road near Wyses Corner, N.S., was engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators later deemed the fire suspicious.
