TTC streetcar hits pedestrian on Spadina

A man has been struck by a TTC streetcar near Spadina Avenue and St. Andrew Street.

Paramedics were called the intersection at 9:50 p.m. and say they are are still assessing the situation. The man's condition is not known.

The TTC says the northbound and southbound Spadina 510 streetcars are diverting around the area, pending an investigation.

The accident is the latest in a series mishaps that have raised questions about safety on the Toronto transit system. A TTC bus struck and killed 14-year-old Amaria Diljohn in December, just days before four were injured in a head-on collision between a streetcar and a bus.

A number of recent videos have also shown TTC buses running red lights.

CEO Andy Byford has ordered a review of the TTC's safety procedures.
