Canada wins two doubles match to extend Continental Cup lead over Europe to 17-7

CALGARY - Canada won two-of-three mixed doubles matches to move 10 points ahead of Europe following early action Saturday at the Continental Cup curling tournament.

Matt Wozniak and Val Sweeting scored four in the third end, then stole singles in the next four ends en route to an 8-3 win over Scott Andrews and Margaretha Sigfridsson.

Kaitlyn Lawes and John Morris built a 5-0 lead after three ends but needed last rock to score two in the eighth and beat Eve Muirhead and David Murdoch 8-5.

Europe's lone point came when Anna Sloan made her last-rock draw to score one as she and partner Christoffer Svae edged Dawn and Mike McEwen 6-5.

Canada leads the overall standings 17-7.
