Man dead after car slams into hydro pole in Riverdale

A man is dead and another seriously injured after two separate overnight crashes in Toronto's east end. 

The fatal incident happened near Broadview Avenue and Riverdale Avenue around 3:30 a.m. A silver Nissan slammed into a hydro pole, killing the driver, police said. 

No one else was in the car, police said. 

Broadview Avenue between Withrow Avenue and Langley Avenue has been closed for investigation. 

In a separate incident, a cyclist was hit by a car on Kingston Road near Warden Avenue before 4 a.m. 

He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, paramedics said. 

The intersection has been closed for investigation.
