A woman who performed silicon buttocks injections pleaded guilty to aggravated assault charges on Monday.
Marilyn Reid was performing the body enhancements in motel rooms, in one case using superglue to seal incisions. Her victims, who cannot be identified due to a publication ban, all got infections as a result of the procedure and some needed surgery to remove the injections.
Reid had advertised for enhancements, among other services, through a website. She offered her services on cash basis only, and would meet victims in hotel rooms or their homes.
She injected silicone gel in the victims' bodies. In one case, she used superglue on a Band-Aid to prevent the fluid from leaking out.
Bodily enhancements can only be legally performed by doctors. Reid is not a doctor, although she had told at least one victim she was a medical professional in her home country.
The Newmarket, Ont., woman pleaded guilty to eight counts of aggravated assault. The Crown is asking for 10 years in jail. She will be sentenced by a judge on Feb. 27.
