HIGH RIVER, Alta. - It's been 18 months since heavy flooding in southern Alberta and one community particularly hard hit is still getting back on its feet.
An update on High River's disaster relief fund says more than $820,000 in donations have now been distributed in the community south of Calgary.
The money has been in the form of community grants for flood renewal and recovery projects.
A total of 45 groups that provide rebuilding help, seniors programs and financial or emotional support have received assistance.
But the update also says some High River residents and businesses are still waiting for funding or for repairs to property — some businesses have still not reopened.
There is still $327,000 available in the fund and the town is also still looking for donations.
