Chefs from Italy and England to mentor students at Stratford Chefs School

STRATFORD, Ont. - Students at the Stratford Chefs School will be able to draw on the expertise of two international chefs who will cook dinner with them this month.

Francesco Lagi and Michael Hazlewood have been named chefs-in-residence for 2015, the school said in a release.

Lagi, who honed his skills at many restaurants in the Florence area, joins students Jan. 20 through 24 from Villa Mangiacane, a 15th-century villa just south of the Italian city.

New Zealand-born Hazlewood, of Toasted Restaurant and Wine Shop in London, will cook dinner with students from Jan. 27 through 31.

The program gives students a chance to network with chefs who provide inspiration tied to the region they are from.

The not-for-profit school also announced it plans to hold its annual gala dinner and auction fundraiser on Feb. 22 at George Restaurant in Toronto.
