WHL Roundup: Bleackley leads Red Deer Rebels past Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-3

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Captain Conner Bleackley scored twice as Red Deer topped the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-3 on Tuesday for the Rebels' fourth-straight win in the Western Hockey League.

Haydn Fleury had a goal and two assists for Red Deer (24-14-5), while Wyatt Johnson and Evan Polei also found the back of the net. Taz Burman made 22 saves for the win.

Tyler Wong, Johnny Wesley and Carter Folk supplied the offence for Lethbridge (10-25-6). Jayden Sittler stopped 35-of-39 shots he faced in net.

The Rebels had no power plays, while the Hurricanes went 1 for 2 with the man advantage.



EDMONTON — Ryan Pilon's goal late in the second period stood as the winner as Brandon edged the Oil Kings.

John Quenneville scored on the power play in the first period for the Wheat Kings (31-9-4), who won back-to-back games.

Brett Pollock was the lone scorer for Edmonton (21-18-5).



KENT, Wash. — Keegan Kolesar had the only goal of the shootout as Seattle eked out a win over Spokane.

Kolesar also scored in regulation time for the Thunderbirds (21-16-5), who are on a three-game point streak. Ryan Gropp, Cory Millette and Nolan Volcan had goals as well.

Riley Whittingham, Liam Stewart, Keanu Yamamoto and Adam Helewka replied for the Chiefs (23-15-4).
