They call it the "Resolution Rush" for a reason.

The second week of January marks the time when everyone flocks to the gym to carry out their New Year's resolutions but if you haven’t hit the gym in a while, it might be a good idea to stock up on quality workout clothes before getting down to business. (That’s not to say your old high-school t-shirt won’t cut it but some new duds could be beneficial.)

On top of new technologies aimed at making workout gear last longer and more suitable for sweating, workout clothes have become noticeably more stylish.

We're on board with looking and feeling great so we highly recommend checking out these adorably practical pieces to help you fulfill your New Year's resolutions in style.

Titika Carli Crops

Stylish Workout Clothes

Titika’s Carli crop pant offers a pop of colour and withstands any workout from a killer crossfit class to a relaxing yoga session. Most of the Canadian brand’s athletic wear features moisture wick, quick-dry and four-way stretch technology.

The Body Pop active wear line is the brainchild of international fitness guru, Cassey Ho. Hey, who are we to argue with someone as fit and adorable as the Blogilates founder? This peplum top from Ho’s line features a peek-a-boo cutout and a playful peplum that’s especially great if you’ve got a little something to hide, at least until you work it off.

Not all of us are comfortable in just a sports bra but if you are, this piece by Bodyism is a good one to show off. The sports bra features a monochrome city skyline with crossover straps that add extra support for high intensity training.

Do not, we repeat do not wear this top to an intense workout where jumping, kicking, punching or profuse sweating is involved. Do wear this darling ballet wrap top to a barre class or a laid-back yoga session. Wherever you wear this top, in class or out with friends, we guarantee compliments.

You can’t argue that Joe Fresh hasn’t done a wonderful job expanding their athletic wear offerings. We love this inspirational tee made of jersey, cotton and spandex that’ll get you moving as per the t-shirt's instructions.

The Michi Bionic bra may cause the person next to you to drop his weights directly on their foot. The head turning bra is made from high performance fabric that’s breathable and moisture wicking. Oh yeah, it’s also made in Canada by native Calgarian, Michelle Watson.

Lorna Jane is one of Australia’s premiere athletic wear brands. People will see you a mile away in these bright pink shorts suitable for any activity. They're also shrink and fade resistant and offer a soft internal waistband for a customized fit.

If running is your exercise of choice, Oiselle athletic wear is specifically geared to you. You've probably contemplated a running skirt but questioned its practicality. Oiselle offers this great option with a pair of anti chafing compression shorts featuring wrap coverage.

Great for throwing on after an intense sweat session, the Athleta Sentry Tie Sweatshirt is made of super soft French terry. It's the perfect piece to wear on your way to grab yourself a well-deserved post-workout smoothie.

If you’re looking for luxury sportswear that doesn’t comprise technical performance for style, look no further than UK label Lucas Hugh. Their leadlight print leggings are pricey but consider the features: inner support layer to lift the rear, compression fabric to sculpt the body, inner thigh and knee mesh panels that provide cooling ventilation and a handy smartphone holder. (Although if you buy a pair of these, you probably won't be able to purchase anything else!)
