Canadians Mock 'Tar-Jay' On Its Way Out The Door

War of 1812 jokes. Love notes for Zellers. Walmart paranoia. Zeddy in tears.

Yeah, it was a weird day on Twitter as news broke that Target is pulling out of Canada.

This is Canada, so obviously there were War of 1812 jokes

And jokes about fancy pronunciations

And empty shelves jokes

And jokes that weren't funny

And, of course, Alex from Target jokes

Apparently a lot of things lasted longer than Target did in Canada

Strange things...

Some saw an opportunity to bring Zellers back from the dead

Or other retro retailers

Others couldn't think of anything more terrifying

While still more couldn't stop reminiscing about Zeddy

More than anything, people were scared that Walmart will now take over Canada

But amid all the jokes, it's important to remember that more than 17,000 people are losing their jobs

Business and government are already helping out

Let's hope all Canada's Target employees land on their feet
