School bus driver charged with drunk driving on way to pick up children

A First Student Inc. school bus driver en route to pick up children after school in Ottawa on Thursday was charged with impaired driving after a crash in the east end.

The school bus collided with a car at the intersection of Milton and Navan roads at about 2 p.m., Ottawa police said in a media release Friday.

No one was injured.

There were no children on the bus at the time, police said, but the driver was en route to pick up children at a school to take them home for the day.

The driver, a 45-year-old woman, was charged with impaired driving.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 29.
