St-Jean-sur-Richelieu pizzeria destroyed by fire

A fire Friday night destroyed a pizzeria in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and forced out a tenant living upstairs from the restaurant.

About 30 firefighters were called to the three-storey building just after 11:30 p.m. ET.

They say the fire caused significant damage to the restaurant at the corner of Saint Charles Street and Richelieu Street, near the Chambly Canal.

The cause of the fire is unknown, though police say they have no reason to believe it was set intentionally.
