Ammonia leak at west-end skating rink

An ammonia leak at a west-end ice rink has sent one man to hospital.

Residents near Park Lawn Park were told to stay inside shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday after a leak was discovered in the rink's ammonia room. The building was evacuated and a male worker was sent to hospital to be assessed.

There were no serious injuries, according to paramedics. Park Lawn Road was closed in both directions north of Berry Road.

The leak has been sealed. Its cause is under investigation.
