Attempted child abduction in White Rock under investigation

RCMP in White Rock, B.C., are investigating the attempted abduction of a nine-year-old child at her school playground.

According to police, the young girl was in the playground of White Rock Elementary School when she was approached by a stranger who tried to lure her into his vehicle on Jan. 16 at around 3:30 p.m.

RCMP say the suspect fled on foot and the child was not injured.

The suspect is described as:

- Caucasian male.

- Approximately 20 to 30 years old.

- Bald head.

- Tattoos on both arms.

- Wearing a dark coloured T-shirt with red writing and beige shorts.

"RCMP investigators are in the process of identifying and speaking to potential witnesses," said Const. Shaileshni Molison.

"We ask anyone who may have information as to the identity of the suspect or who may have witnessed this incident to call police."
