Sailboat catches fire in False Creek

Vancouver firefighters were busy on Tuesday night putting out a fire on a 40-foot sailboat in False Creek.

It took two hours to put the fire out, but it was contained to the one vessel tied up near Fisherman's Wharf.

No one was on board when the fire broke out around 10 p.m. PT and no one was injured.

Vancouver Fire Battalion Chief David Laberge said getting the fire hoses to the boat was a challenge.

"They had to hand buck the lines down all the way to the end of the wharf and supply their own water from the rig, there was a dry system and there was some confusion into what pipes to lay into to."

Investigators did not release the cause of the fire.
