Gatineau, Que., thieves steal $28,000 worth of hockey sticks

Gatineau police are looking for two robbery suspects who targeted an east-end sports store twice, stealing thousands of dollars worth of hockey sticks earlier this month.

The first attempt at the Marc Sport store on Maloney Boulevard East was made Jan. 7 around 11:40 p.m, when two people tried to break in while driving a stolen white cargo van.

Police said the second try came Jan. 12, when they came back with another white cargo van and made off with $28,000 worth of hockey sticks, which works out to just under 100 sticks at approximately $300 each.

The first suspect was wearing dark clothing, a dark tuque, balaclava, gloves and sneakers with white soles.

The second was wearing a dark coat with a white patch on the left arm, a hood, gloves and "Baffin" style winter boots.
