A hockey dad at the York Ice Arena in York, Pa. just made a great case for banning parents from games.
A video posted to YouTube on Monday shows a father standing up during a weekend girls' hockey game and hitting the glass, only to see it shatter in front of him.
He then points through the glass and can be heard yelling, "bullshit" after another person in the crowd says, "Way to go, Paul."
"This is another unfortunate example of the totally ridiculous obsession of some parents with youth sports," Eric Menzer, president of the York Revolution, which manages the facility, told the York Daily Record.
The man in the video has been banned from the arena and ordered to pay for the glass, Menzer added.
It broke because the father hit it with his wedding ring, causing it to buckle.
"He broke the [wedding] ring," Menzer told the Record. "Apparently, his hand wasn't in great shape either."
The incident occurred as B.C.'s Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association (VIAHA) considers banning people from watching the games in the stands on weekends due to harassment of referees.
"On behalf of the game, we are asking that parents get involved and either ask those that are being inappropriate toward those on the ice to either cease and desist or leave the arena," association president Jim Humphrey said in a letter.
