EDMONTON - Another former Alberta cabinet minister is getting out of provincial politics.

Fred Horne, who served as health minister from October 2011 to last September, says he won't seek re-election.

Horne has represented Edmonton-Rutherford since 2008 and is currently a backbencher.

In a note to supporters Horne says he looks forward to supporting Premier Jim Prentice and the Progressive Conservative party in the future.

Horne's announcement comes a day after former finance minister Doug Horner announced that he will resign at the end of this month.

The announcements come amid growing speculation of a possible provincial election this year.
