Phil Kessel beats Tyler Seguin in fastest skater competition

The Toronto Maple Leafs' Phil Kessel proved he's quick on his feet Saturday night by beating the Dallas Stars' Tyler Seguin in a fastest skater contest as part of the NHL all-star skills competition.

Kessel edged Seguin by less than a tenth of a second, posting a time of 13.596 seconds compared to Seguin's 13.631 in the race around the ice.

Kessel wasn't the fastest guy on the ice as that honour fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning's Jonathan Drouin, who posted the top time of 13.103 seconds.

The victory for Kessel comes at a good time for the forward, as his team has been stuck in a significant downward spiral. The Leafs have lost six in a row and only one of their last 10 games.

At least this demonstration of skating speed by Toronto's captain can bring the faithful in Leafs nation some semblance of success.
