Toronto FC attacker Dominic Oduro throws down the hair gauntlet

TORONTO - Day 1 of training camp and Toronto FC attacker Dominic Oduro wasted little time throwing down the gauntlet.

Best hair in Major League Soccer? You're looking at it.

"Me, of course," said Oduro, sounding almost offended at the question. "Come on."

Who is second? "Nobody," he said with a laugh.

Oduro, a winger/forward in his 10th year in MLS, favours a mohawk with shaved sides and a variety of colours on top.

"This is a game of entertainment and you have to entertain the fans. Everybody loves it," he said, referring to his ever-changing hair.

"The Twitter feed was buzzing."

A recent shot of him in the barber's chair with the words "Pre season lets do this!!" was favourited 150 times as of Monday evening.

"There's always more to come," said Oduro, whose tips were tinged black, red and sandy. "The whole point is for you to look twice."

Oduro did show some love for Real Salt Lake midfielder's Kyle Beckerman's trademark dreadlocks.

"His (hair) is legendary, I can't say anything about that. But I'm not competing," he added. "At the end of the day I just want to entertain people and that's what I trying to do."

Oduro has used his hair to pay tribute to his native Ghana as well as adding a touch of pink and shaved ribbon design to honour breast cancer awareness. A pizza-lover, he has also worn a slice of pizza design in his hair.
