Ethan Stokes's body found in the Scugog River

The body of a Fleming College student who went missing on Sunday has been found in the Scugog River in Lindsay, Ont., on Tuesday.

The Ontario Provincial Police’s underwater search and recovery unit found the body of Ethan Stokes, Kawartha Lakes police said.

Stokes, a student at Fleming College’s Frost Campus, was last seen in a bar in downtown Lindsay around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, police said.

Friends and students then went from door to door to get more information about Stokes’s whereabouts, police said.

On Monday, police were called to a hole in the ice on the Scugog River, which they described as “consistent with someone falling through the ice.”

Kawartha Lakes police said at the time that they cannot confirm if the hole was related to Stokes’s disappearance, but they asked for assistance from OPP’s dive team.
