Gumby Birthday Marathon Celebrates 60 Years Of Flexible Fun

It's party time, Gumby!

The lovable, green, bendy character officially turns 60 on Thursday, Jan. 29, and Teletoon Retro is celebrating with a marathon starting at 6 p.m. ET/PT, according to a news release.

The marathon will reunite viewers with Gumby, his pony pal Pokey and, of course, the villainous Blockheads.

Gumby has been with us a long time, so we only thought it fitting to honour him the best way we could.

Happy birthday, Gumby! This is your life!

Your roots lie here, in Art Clokey's short film "Gumbasia."

A movie producer loved the film, so he told Clokey to make up some characters. Hence, you were born.

We first met you on "The Howdy Doody Show."

But you later became star of "The Gumby Show."

You became a toy ...

An Eddie Murphy character on "Saturday Night Live" ...

And you eventually starred in your own movie.

You've dazzled us with your juggling ...

Your musical talent ...

And your multitasking.

Your creator has sadly passed on ...

(R.I.P., Art Clokey, 1921-2010)

But you still pop up in random places.

You've helped lay the ground for clay characters such as Wallace and Gromit ...

And movies like "Chicken Run."

And you've never really gone away.

So happy birthday, and here's to many more!
