Gab Roy sentenced to 18 months for luring, sexual contact with teen

Former Quebec comedian Gab Roy was sentenced to 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to several sexual offences including sexual touching of a minor.

Roy released a video earlier this week on expressing his intentions to plead guilty.

"I’m pleading guilty because I’m guilty," he said in the video.

He was sentenced on Friday to 18 months in jail and two years’ probation for sexual contact with a minor under 16, invitation to sexual touching, luring and internet luring for events occurring between March 2010 and October 2011.

His name will also be on the sexual offenders list.

His victim, a 15-year-old girl, released a video last year in which she recounted the events that ultimately led to a police investigation and subsequent charges.

Roy had previously retired from public life after fallout from a controversial blog post in which he recounted a violent sexual fantasy involving Quebec actress Mariloup Wolfe.

Wolfe launched a $300,000 lawsuit against Roy in March 2014. That case is still pending.
