For one Sobeys clerk, helping a blind customer carry her groceries home was nothing new.
Austin MacNeill, 22, has become something of a celebrity after a photo of him escorting 72-year-old Mary Cogswell home on a cold day in Halifax was posted to Facebook on Friday.

The photo had been shared almost 6,000 times as of Monday afternoon, and has made people recognize MacNeill around town, CBC News reported.
But assisting customers like this isn't out of the ordinary, MacNeill told the network.
"Everybody at the store likes to help people out," he said. "It's just kind of the thing we do. It happens on a daily basis."
Cogswell often goes to the supermarket near her home and needs assistance when buying food.
The photo has apparently made a celebrity out of her, too: "One of the ladies from the blind community, she said, 'You're more popular than the Queen right now,'" Cogswell told Global News.
CTV News noted that Sobeys has recognized MacNeill's gesture by erecting a sign. It also shared the photo on its own Facebook account on Friday.
