Subban was jawing with Rangers forward Chris Kreider in the neutral zone during a game last week when Kreider gave him a light bump with the shaft of his stick and Subban immediately fell to the ice.
Both players were penalized, with Subban receiving a two-minute minor for embellishment and Kreider getting two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Subban is the fifth player to be fined this season under the NHL's new rules designed to punish players who repeatedly dive and embellish contact in order to draw penalties.
Subban was issued a warning for diving during a Jan. 6 game against Tampa Bay. If he's caught diving again, it could trigger a fine of $3,000 for his third offence.
