Robyn Lawley Becomes First Plus-Size Model Featured In Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue

Meet Sports Illustrated's First Plus-Size Model

If you were excited to hear about Ashley Graham's history-making Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue ad, you'll love this: Robyn Lawley has just been named one of the issue's rookies of the year!

That's right, the Australian model nabbed a coveted spot in the mag, which is a true first for a plus-size model.

The model shared her excitement about the feature via Instagram on Thursday, Feb. 5. She shared two of the images from the issue, which see her posing in the wilderness in front of a gorgeous mountain landscape.

Now, to the average person, Lawley probably doesn't look plus-sized at all. And she's not -- technically speaking -- but at a size 12, she's the curviest model to ever appear in the swimsuit edition. And to top it all off, she got to pose in a bikini from her own swimwear line.

Lawley doesn't like to focus on labels, though. She was once quoted saying, "I think it's derogatory to anyone -- it's a label. I'm a model; I don't think I need a 'plus-size' in front of it."

Regardless of whether or not Lawley is actually a plus size model, we think she looks right at home in this issue. And furthermore, we're so glad to see the magazine accepting and embracing curvier bodies.

What do you think of Robyn's appearance in the magazine?
