Two Calgary men charged in illegal medicinal marijuana grow-ops

CALGARY - Two Calgary men are facing charges following the discovery of illegal medicinal marijuana grow-ops.

Police say marijuana plants and other drugs were removed from a home in the city's Sherwood neighbourhood last November.

A suspect was arrested last week.

A second discovery was made in the Harvest Hills area two weeks ago and led to the arrest of a second man.

Police say electricity and water were being stolen in both cases to run the grow-ops.

Dennis Bassett, who is 36, and Fang Xie, who is 44, are facing trafficking and theft charges.
