Mercier Bridge closed towards South Shore for weekend

From Friday, February 6 at 11 p.m. until Monday, February 9, at 5 a.m. both lanes on the Honoré Mercier Bridge towards the South Shore will be closed for snow clearing and de-icing.

Only lanes towards Montreal will remain open to traffic.

This one way configuration will ensure road users safety in case of bad weather and will facilitate snow removal and de-icing operations required during winter season.

The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated said these operations cannot be properly performed with traffic in both directions, because the width of the lanes is not adequate and safe for snow removal vehicles.

They say the closures may be shortened if work moves quickly, or cancelled because of weather conditions.

Other lane closures may be necessary for work in the coming weeks.
