Extreme cold weather alert issued for Toronto

An extreme cold weather alert has been issued for the City of Toronto.

Temperatures are expected to reach a high of -7 C Sunday, but with winds gusting over 40 km/h, the morning temperature of -10 C feels like -17 C.

An extreme cold weather alert is typically issued when the mercury drops below -15 C. Earlier, the city was also under a freezing drizzle advisory from Environment Canada which was lifted shortly after 10:20 a.m.

The forecast for Toronto includes a low of -11 C overnight, with warmer temperatures of up to -5 C expected Monday.
