Île Bizard home destroyed by fire

Police are investigating after a fire destroyed a home in Île Bizard overnight.

The home hasn't been occupied since October, but the owner's son was there with friends late yesterday evening, said Montreal fire chief Benoît Brouillard.

The building was already engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived around 1 a.m., he said.

Neighbours alerted emergency crews to the fire.

Brouillard said the building was a "complete loss."
