Savoury Chocolate Recipes You Can Make For Dinner (Yes, Really)

The Hungry Babushka

Chocolate is an obvious choice for Valentines Day desserts. Truffles, lava cake, mousse, ice cream ... the options are endless.

But just because it's strongly associated with sweet treats doesn't mean you can't have savoury chocolate recipes as well. After all, cocoa itself doesn't naturally have any sugar. And shouldn't we take advantage of those antioxidants in dark chocolate every chance we get?

Mexican cuisine is the obvious go-to here, thanks to the use of chocolate in mole sauces and the way cocoa complements chilis and other strong flavours. But it's not the only option for a chocolate recipe — it also works great for grilled foods, or in stews to add a bit of depth. It can even be added to the breading for chicken, surprising as that sounds.

Some of these 14 savoury chocolate recipes are traditional, and others are outside the box, but they'll all make you appreciate this ingredient even more. And no, this doesn't prevent you from eating chocolate for dessert too.
