AIRDRIE, Alta. - A man trying to be neighbourly on his way to work ended up being pepper-sprayed and almost hit with a hammer.
RCMP in Airdrie, a city north of Calgary, says a man was getting into his vehicle to go to work early Thursday morning when he saw a man near his car.
The man got out to say hello to who he thought was a neighbour, but instead, the man got a blast of pepper spray in the face.
The suspect then tried to hit the victim twice with a hammer, then fled down the street.
Police say they are looking for a white man, five feet eight inches to five feet nine inches tall, with a slight build and a scruffy beard.
He was wearing a brown winter coat with the hood up, winter work boots and multi-coloured gloves.
