Lorne Melting-Tallow Vancouver's second homicide of 2015

The death of a man, found in medical distress on a Downtown Eastside sidewalk on Wednesday, was Vancouver's second homicide of the year, police confirmed Friday.

Lorne Joseph Melting-Tallow, 49, was bleeding and unresponsive when police arrived at Hastings Street near Columbia Street at around 4 a.m. PT on Feb 11. He was transferred to hospital where he later died.

The cause of his death was not initially apparent, but the findings of an autopsy conducted Friday confirm it was a homicide, police said in a news release.

The city's first homicide of 2015 was confirmed on Jan. 6, after a body was discovered at a home in East Vancouver, near Triumph and Nanaimo streets. A 29-year-old man is facing manslaughter charges in the killing.
