Bikini Village, Quebec-based company, files for bankruptcy

Bikini Village, based in Ste-Julie, Que., on Montreal's South Shore, has filed for bankruptcy protection.

The company operates 52 stores and employs about 400 people.

Jocelyn Dumas, executive chairman of the board, said stores will remain open for now. No job cuts were announced.

Dumas said the company has 30-plus days to restructure.

The announcement follows the closure of other Quebec-based retailers such as Jacob, Mexx Canada and Parasuco.
