Dawson Creek man abducted and shot multiple times

A man shot multiple times after he was allegedly abducted was discovered in front of the local hospital in Dawson Creek Friday by police attending the hospital on an unrelated matter.

Dawson Creek RCMP Sgt. Ed Reinink says the abduction happened Friday night between 10:30 p.m. PT and midnight near the intersection of 102 Avenue and 17 Street.

Reinink says the victim was forced into a silver pickup truck in the parking lot of the Bergeron Funeral Home.

"The male had been abducted by multiple persons at a certain intersection in Dawson Creek and from there he was taken to a rural location where he was shot."

Reinink says the man was shot several times in the legs but managed to drag himself to a roadway where he was picked up and taken to hospital.

Police discovered there had been a shooting when an officer leaving the hospital was told by people helping the victim into a wheelchair that he'd had been shot multiple times.

Reinink says the victim is reported to be in stable condition after an initial surgery, but will likely require several more surgeries. He says police believe the shooting is drug related.

Dawson Creek RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the struggle by the funeral home to call them at 250-784-3700 or to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
