West Vancouver police investigate abduction report

West Vancouver police are asking for public assistance to help verify reports of a possible abduction Saturday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. PT.

Police say they received reports of two men appearing to force a younger person into an older model, large, white, sport utility vehicle in the 100 block of Bonnymuir Drive.

West Vancouver Police spokesman Const. Jeff Palmer says police were dispatched immediately, but couldn't find the SUV. A licence plate was not obtained.

Palmer says police departments across the Lower Mainland were notified with the vehicle's description.

Despite actively working to locate the SUV and the people inside, Palmer says police have yet to receive any reports expressing concerns about the well-being of a potential victim.

Police are wondering whether the incident was a prank, but continue to investigate it as a crime.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Vancouver police at 604-925-7300.
