KANE, Man. - The fire chief in a southern Manitoba rural municipality says four children have died in a house fire.
Bernard Schellenberg says three other children survived and are with neighbours. He says the parents were taken to hospital.
Schellenberg says the two-storey farmhouse in the RM of Morris was already engulfed in flames by the time volunteer crews got to the scene. He says firefighters couldn't get inside because the flames were burning so hot and there was so much smoke.
Mounties say the blaze broke out early this morning near the tiny community of Kane, about 95 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg.
