Fire Pit creates place for Prince George homeless during Canada Winter Games

The Fire Pit — a drop-in centre in Prince George — has put forward an alternative to the Canada Winter Games for people who can't afford to be included in the events.

"I don't know if they feel included, because they're just so used to living on the streets. We don't want them to feel left out," Violet Bozoki, the elder adviser at the centre told Daybreak North.

The centre has extended its hours to be open from 5 to 9 p.m. every day through to the end of the games this weekend and has special events including traditional aboriginal dinners and craft tables.

"We've got people from across Canada that come in here," said Bozoki.

"We make everybody welcome."
