Mélanie Joly hits the ground running in Liberal campaign

Mélanie Joly said in 2013 that she would not run for the Liberals in the next federal election, but she says she's tired of sitting on the bench.

This week she announced she would run for the Liberal candidacy in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.

It was not well-received by the other Liberal candidates in the hotly contested riding. And even if she were to win the Liberal nomination, she'd have to go up against incumbent Maria Mourani, the former Bloc-turned-NDP MP for the riding.

She explained her reversal on federal politics to CBC Daybreak host Mike Finnerty on Wednesday.

"I have the choice of staying on the bench or going back into the action, and I’m a woman of action and that’s exactly what I want to do," Joly says. Listen here for more:
