Yves Bolduc will quit his job as Quebec's education minister.
He was given the education dossier by Premier Philippe Couillard in April 2014.
He had previously served as the province's health minister between 2008 and 2012.
During his short tenure, he said he had no problem with schools strip searching students, said no children would die if they didn't get new library books and vigorously defended his getting a $215,000 bonus while working as a doctor for 19 months between political appointments.
His departure comes after a week of speculation over a possible cabinet shuffle in the National Assembly.
