Police ID 2 victims in Danforth McDonalds shooting

Police on Monday identified Donny Ouimette and Ryan Hind as the two men who were shot and killed at a Danforth Avenue McDonalds.

The two men were shot around 3 a.m. on Saturday by an armed security guard after a "significant physical altercation." Police said the guard — who was working at a nearby business but at the restaurant picking up food — fired his weapon multiple times near the restaurant’s main counter.

Ouimette, 25, and Hind, 39, were both pronounced dead at the scene. A postmortem investigation confirmed gunshot wounds killed them.

Police are not seeking any additional suspects, and say the security guard, who has not been named, is co-operating with the investigation. He suffered a minor injury in the incident.

Craig Penney, the guard’s lawyer, told The Canadian Press his client is "grateful to be recovering from his injuries," is "appreciative of the way in which the police are dealing with the matter" and "is thankful to his company for supporting him."

Penney said the gun involved in the shooting was lawfully possessed.

No charges have been laid in connection with the shooting at this time.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
