TORONTO - A countrywide contest for emerging designers is once again offering a lucrative cash bonus.
Last year, Mercedes-Benz Start Up introduced a $30,000 bursary for the winning designer.
Organizers have announced the monetary prize remains a part of the package.
This will mark the fifth year in the nationwide search, which will kick off this summer with auditions in Montreal on Aug. 12-13, Toronto on Aug. 17-18 and Calgary on Aug. 20 and 21.
Six designers will be selected to participate in the national finale at Toronto's World MasterCard Fashion Week in October.
To be eligible for the contest, designers must have a registered Canadian business that has been operating for less than five years.
Deadline for applications is June 1.
The winning designer will also receive a fully produced runway show during Toronto's Fashion Week in March 2016.
Previous Start Up winners include label Martin Lim, Duy Nguyen, Cecile Raizonville of Montreal-based label Matiere Noire, and Edmonton's Malorie Urbanovitch.
Current titleholder Sid Neigum is slated to present his fall-winter collection at Fashion Week on March 23.
