Dry conditions spur grass fire near Blood Reserve in southern Alberta

STAND OFF, Alta. - Firefighters spent a good part of the late afternoon Friday battling a grass fire in southern Alberta.

The flames broke out on the Blood Reserve, southwest of Lethbridge.

Crews from four area fire departments responded to the blaze, which did not pose a threat to any communities.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and there's no word as to just how much land burned.

A fire ban is now in effect for all of Lethbridge County due to the dry conditions and lack of moisture.
