Elisabeth Vathje wins bronze in women's skeleton at FIBT World Championship

A wipeout near the finish line couldn’t knock Elisabeth Vathje off the podium in Winterberg, Germany.

The Calgarian posted a total time of three minutes 50.74 seconds on Saturday to finish third in women’s skeleton, Vathje’s first appearance at a FIBT World Championship.

Fellow Calgary native Jane Channell was fourth in 3:50.80.

Lizzy Yarnold of Great Britain won the event in 3:49.95, followed by Germany’s Jacquelline Loelling (3:50.62).
