Edmonton driver of snow removal vehicle charged in death of pedestrian

EDMONTON - A City of Edmonton snow removal driver has been charged in the death of a pedestrian in January.

Claudia Trindade, who was 39, was struck in a marked crosswalk by a tractor-mounted snow blower unit in northeast Edmonton on Jan. 28.

The mother of two died five days later in hospital.

The city said at the time the piece of is used to remove windrows, which are piles of snow left behind by snowplows.

Douglas Zaboroski, who is 51, has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and failing to stop at a red light under the Traffic Safety Act.
