Impact midfielder Mapp to have elbow surgery, will be out four months

MONTREAL - Montreal Impact midfielder Justin Mapp needs surgery to repair a fractured and dislocated elbow and is expected to be out of action for four months, the Major League Soccer club announced Tuesday.

The surgery is scheduled for Thursday.

Mapp was injured when he fell over D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid late in a 1-0 loss Saturday in Washington.

"It's not easy to replace him, but we have a lot of depth out wide," coach Frank Klopas said. "With the changes we made, we wanted quality depth at every spot."
