March Break 2015: Toronto’s Pearson airport to handle 113,000 passengers today

It’s one of the busiest days of the year at Pearson International Airport as travellers take off to various March break destinations on Friday.

The CBC’s Linda Ward, reporting live from Pearson’s Terminal 1 this morning, said there have been no major delays. Airport officials said an estimated 116,000 passengers will pass through the airport today.

Passengers told Ward while the airport is busy, the crowds haven't been too bad.

The morning hours are common departure times for flights to sun destinations down south, as well as major Asian cities.

Pearson has also taken additional steps to make the flying experience better — especially for young children. There’s a space equipped with video games, free colouring books and even "surf shacks" where kids can play and parents can snag travel guides.
