3 banks robbed across east end

Police are investigating a series of bank robberies across Toronto which they believe are connected.

Three TD branches in the city's east end -- at Warden & Danforth, Eglinton & Victoria Park, Kingston & McCowan -- were robbed Saturday morning and early afternoon, according to police.

Officers from 41 Division were called to the TD at 673 Warden Ave. at 9:15 a.m. They say a white male suspect entered the bank, handed a teller a note, and got away with some money. The suspect might have fled the scene in a taxi.

Police were then called to the TD at Eglinton Square shopping plaza, at Eglinton and Victoria Park, where a similarly described suspect also passed a note to a teller, and made off with some cash.

No injuries were reported, and no weapons were seen in either robbery, police say.

A third TD was robbed at around 12:30 p.m. near Kingston Road and McCowan Road. Again, the suspect got away with some money, though a description in that case has not been released, according to officers at 43 Division.

Police say the hold-up squad has been called in to investigate.

A fourth hold-up at Queen and Bathurst is also under investigation by 14 Division.
